Command and Conquer and Covert Operations - CD Support Required

This is to install the classic Command and Conquer and its expansion, Covert Operations.

C&C

1. Insert you C&C CD in your CD-Rom (Either CD 1 or 2)
2. Wait for Auto run to come up. (If you don't have auto run enabled continue to step 4)
3. Close Auto run
4. Right Click on the CD-Rom in 'My Computer' and select 'Open'
   CD will be labeled either 'GDI95' or 'NOD95'
5. Right Click on 'SETUP.EXE' and click 'Properties'
6. Click on the 'Compatibility' tab at the top
7. Under the 'Compatibility mode' tick 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:'
8. Under the drop down menu make sure 'Windows 95' is selected then click 'Apply' then 'Ok'
9. Run 'SETUP.EXE', the C&C installation wizard should now load
10. Click 'Next'
11. Untick 'DirectX audio and video drivers (Recommended)', Click 'Next'
12. Click 'Next'
13. Choose any installation directory you want, for the purpose of this guide i will use the default (C:\WESTWOOD\C&C95)
14. Click 'Next'
15. If a 'Confirm Creation of New Directory' comes up click 'Yes'
16. Click 'Next'
17. When you are prompted with 'Install Westwood Chat Program' just click 'Cancel
18. A forced install of Adobe Acrobat Reader will then be launched
19. As soon as the welcome screen comes up click 'Cancel' then 'No'
    If you want to install you can but i offer no support for it so if you mess it up don't ask me how to fix it.
20. Select 'I will restart my computer later' and click 'Finish'
21. Download Windows XP Fix
    Windows XP Fix can be downloaded from www.smasher9a.com/cnc-support/downloads/thipx32.dll
22. If you cant or didn't save it into your installation directory move it there now
    The file is called 'thipx32.dll'
23. After it is in your installation director right click on 'C&C95.EXE' and click 'Properties'
24. Click on the 'Compatibility' tab at the top
25. Under the 'Compatibility mode' tick 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:'
26. Under the drop down menu make sure 'Windows 95' is selected then click 'Apply' then 'Ok'
    

Covert Operations

1. Insert you C&C CD in your CD-Rom (Either CD 1 or 2)
2. Wait for Auto run to come up. (If you don't have auto run enabled continue to step 4)
3. Close Auto run
4. Right Click on the CD-Rom in 'My Computer' and select 'Open'
   CD will be labeled 'COVERT'
5. Right Click on 'SETUP.EXE' and click 'Properties'
6. Click on the 'Compatibility' tab at the top
7. Under the 'Compatibility mode' tick 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:'
8. Under the drop down menu make sure 'Windows 95' is selected then click 'Apply' then 'Ok'
9. Run 'INSTALL.EXE', the Covert Operations installation wizard should now load
10. When asked where the previous installation of C&C is you must manually type its locations
    If you are using the default location like me type 'C:\WESTWOOD\C&C95'
11. Click 'Yes'
12. After 'INSTALLATION COMPLETE' is displayed the installation wizard will close.

To Add a Desktop Shortcut

1. Go into installation directory, default is C:\WESTWOOD\C&C95
2. Right click on 'C&C95.EXE' and select 'Copy'
3. Go to Desktop, right click and select 'Paste Shortcut'
4. Right click on shortcut, select 'Rename' and type 'C&C'

Command and Conquer and Covert Operations are now installed. To play simply put the CD of choice in your CD-Rom drive and run the desktop shortcut. For C&C insert C&C CD, for Covert Operations insert Covert Operations CD :P
